A valuable addition to your school’s mental health curriculum, our comprehensive program is split into three workshops covering self-image, socialising, and female health. Each includes modules with practical strategies, exercises, and lessons designed to support student wellbeing with long-term benefits and outcomes:

A stronger sense of identity to cultivate self-love and establish personal boundaries when faced with peer pressure.

The confidence to put yourself first and fill your own cup.

A plan for building supportive friendships and inclusivity in social settings, including online.

Knowledge about female health and sexual education.

The skills to make informed decisions about consent and relationships, maintaining healthy emotional and and physical wellbeing.

ONGOING SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Big Sister Experience Ongoing Program promotes continuity of support and cohesion amongst groups.

Weekly sessions cover a range of mental health and wellbeing topics to support and provide a safe space for those who need it most.

The shorter delivery format allows us to focus on one subject at a time in a smaller group setting.

Why The Big Sister Experience?

Our approach is authentic, creative and empathetic — informed by the firsthand experiences of our founders and Big Sisters, who’ve overcome their own mental health challenges and have professional backgrounds in teaching. Our aim is to equip young girls with the tools to support each other and themselves through the challenges of adolescence and beyond.

Nurture generations of empowered and capable students with the following benefits:

  • According to the World Health Organization, approximately 20% of teenagers experience mental health issues like anxiety and depression. Providing support to high school students can help manage mental health challenges during formative years.

  • Secondary school students are at a critical age for developing and maintaining healthy peer relationships. Studies show that social skills training can reduce bullying and cyberbullying by up to 30%, creating a safer and more inclusive school environment (UNICEF, 2023).

  • Social and emotional learning programs have been shown to improve students’ attitudes towards their learning environment, which is reflected in improved academic performance.

  • Programs that focus on emotional well-being and peer relationships can reduce the risk of students dropping out of school, as they feel more connected and engaged with their education.

The openness and honesty of the program is so positive. Creating a safe space for our young girls. Time allocation is brilliant; engaging ratio of lesson, activity, brain and breaks. This is why we engage the BSE for ALL our Year 9 students, every year.
