Grace is our loving and massive hearted Soul Sister, who has the resilience and strength of a lioness. When she is not actively avoiding an early morning, you can catch her baking one of her cake masterpieces that will make you want to lick your phone screen. Having completed a Bachelor of Youth Work, and passionate about discussing real and raw topics affecting our teens today, Grace is a valuable member of The Big Sister Experience team. Always empathetic and open-minded, Grace brings a wealth of professional and personal experience to the table. When asked what she loves most about working in the team, Grace says she loves how the crew supports each other, shows vulnerability and practices self-care. Even though she can’t be trusted with a packet of chocolate Tiny Teddy’s, Grace’s passion for the work we do at The Big Sister Experience and the wellbeing of the girls we work with makes up for it. She’s one of a kind!
Camera Man Dave
Many of you will have seen Camera Man Dave popping up like an alternatively kooky Where’s Wally either at our live events or on our social media videos. Camera Man Dave represents all we could want in a Media Man… he’s tech savvy, creative, and he thinks Bianca and Kritz are the funniest humans he’s ever had the pleasure of mingling with. When he’s not demanding biscuits to dunk in his tea whilst editing the latest Big Sister footage, you can find Dave foraging through op shops or binge watching the latest drama on Netflix. His proudest moment was when The Big Sister Experience was featured on the Today show where Dave was heard quoted as saying “oh my god my elbow made it onto national TV!” Often known to bring The Big Sister Experience to tears via his editing masterpieces, Camera Man Dave is the kind of gentle, loving soul the team loves to be around.
Nicky is the “write things good” member of our team. She wants to live in a world where love letters are brave, not creepy and thank you notes are scribbled by hand, not sent with the thumb’s up emoji over text. She’s been applauded for her engaging writing that will have you saying ‘WOW’, and specialises in blog writing, EDM copy, website content and press releases. When she’s not typing up a storm, you can find Nicky re-reading the classics, watching obscene amounts of Netflix with zero shame or writing out thoughts in her daily journal. Nicky is in her third year of a Bachelor of Arts degree and majors in (shock!) Creative Writing and Public Relations. She loves the fact that The Big Sister Experience team practices what they preach, even in challenging and uncertain times. Nicky is a terrible liar but is on the fence about the ‘fake it ‘til you make it’ motto. We are super grateful to have Nicky on our team for 2020!
IT Man Dan
If you’ve ever stopped to think “WOW, what a great website” or “AMAZING, what a breeze to register for this online course!?” then you’re admiring the handy work of our IT Man Dan! Dan has pretty much been part of The Big Sister Experience team since day dot. When he’s not being hounded by Bianca or Kritz to address something that’s not as dramatic or urgent as both of them feel it is, Dan can be found hiding out bush in Gembrook. He says he loves the serenity. We think it’s to dodge phone reception and to avoid dealing with the dozens of messages from Kritz about where the entire testimonial page disappeared to when she clicked that button…! Dan truly is a treasure. His patience, encouragement, creativity and support continue to allow The Big Sister Experience to grow, evolve and flourish. He is unlike any other web designer we have ever met, and we are NEVER letting him go! (mwah-ha-ha-ha you’re stuck with us forever DAN!)
Marie takes a kind and understanding approach to all tasks for our team. Connecting people is something she has always been passionate about, and that’s why it’s so easy for her to contribute to our mission. She’s our zealous marketer, currently in her last semester of a Bachelor of Business Marketing (duh!). With her problem-solving attitude she is always thinking of and coming up with practical solutions. Marie’s got the best shoulder to lean on, is an active listener and prides herself on her ability to build personal connections. You can catch Marie staying up late binge-watching shows with anything chocolate in hand. Contrary to her late-night antics, she does love her sleep – but needs to go to bed earlier. Still, Marie is positive and persistent and takes on tasks with a can-do attitude. We can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for Marie and The BSE.
Alex is one of our favourite Brit and blog contributor. She completed a Bachelor of English with Creative Writing all the way over in the UK before settling in Australia, and loves sharing her experience, stories and thoughts with us to support the work we are doing with girls and their families. When asked why she loves being part of our mission at The Big Sister Experience, Alex says she adores the pure-hearted supportiveness and the team’s passion for encouraging girls to love one another. When she’s not reading a good book or going for a run, you can find Alex writing for mental health charities or engaging in some kind of creative writing. A massive theatre-goer, Alex brings a wealth of personal experience to our team and her ability to be vulnerable and authentic in her writing has helped dozens of the families and girls within our community. Although she avoids public speaking with a passion, Alex is known to spend way too long consuming cute dog videos. We are thankful for her willingness to contribute to our community!
Sonia is our pocket-rocket social media guru. She’s a team player, with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Major in Marketing under her belt, Sonia thrives working in our environment. As an excellent communicator, she’s always quick off the bat when it comes to ideas and loves to share and collaborate with the rest of us. Sonia is passionate about The Big Sister Experience and uses her social media skills to help us grow as a business online. When we asked Sonia what she loved about our program, she told us she appreciates how much we support young girls and teach them how to love themselves and gain confidence in their bodies. In her own time, Sonia loves to paint and pet dogs. You can probably find her on her yoga mat most days, avoiding folding the washing – of course. She loves our business values and leads by example, never judging and always listening as she works. And boy does she work! Sometimes too much – she has trouble saying no. So, in summary, if you need something done, ask Sonia 😉
Tam is our online digital marketing master. It’s no surprise she’s finishing a post-grad in Advertising and has always had a passion for pursuing marketing as a career. With a keen interest in video-editing Tam has an electric energy that she brings to our team. As our ‘ideas’ woman, she is never short for an answer. Tam is all about ‘the message’ behind marketing. Yes, she was once a teen girl, with self-doubts and a lack of self-awareness, and this experience is what drew her to our team in the first place. Tam is all about spreading positive vibes and self-love through open and honest communication. She’s creative and ensures our online courses are beneficial to every sister everywhere! If you’re looking for Tam, she’s probably in the kitchen baking; tiramisu is her speciality. Just don’t leave her unattended with one though, she might finish the whole thing. She loves a Tim Tam (obviously) and taking photos of her surroundings and even though she can’t be left alone with a tiramisu, Tam’s aim to spread good vibes to the teen girls we work with always leaves us with a smile.
Alysha is our Communications wizz who strongly believes the greatest rewards come from taking the boldest risks and making the most meaningful connections.
She is always scouring a new mission that she can bring her soul of passion and drive to – which is how she ended up in our inbox. She was encouraged by the opportunity to create aspirational and relatable content aimed to motivate and encourage teenage girls everywhere and help them move forward. When asked what she loves about working in our team, she loves working in a crew of supportive like-minded girls with optimistic attitudes and compassionate hearts.
Her talents involve rewatching FRIENDS multiple times a year, writing from the heart, and eating mint chocolate by the block. She is in a bit of a love triangle with reading and writing, because she likes words so much, so she just does both. While delegation may not be her strong point, her authentic and honest approach to learning and life makes her an ambitious and valued member of the Big Sister Experience Team.
Molly’s transition into a Communications degree came as no surprise to her family and friends as she is always talking and has a passion for creating new things. As a second-year student, nearing the final units of her Bachelor of Communication and Public Relations degree, she has learnt that she loves an environment that enables her to learn new things. Both caring and creative in nature, the Big Sister Experience team and Molly share similar values when it comes to empowering younger girls, making the transition for Molly into the team seamless.
She was inspired by the team’s mission and could not contain the excitement when presented with the opportunity to join the sisterhood as a new team member. Molly’s biggest weakness is her inability to say no to something when it comes up, however, has recently adopted the notion of balance into her everyday life. If you are unable to reach her, there is a good chance Molly is either in the ocean or shoveling chocolate covered almonds into her face while watching Disney+ or (of course) Friends. That being said she is definitely a go-getter and someone who you can constantly rely on.
Bella is one of the newer members of our superstar team. Completing a Bachelor of Business and a Major in Public Relations, working with The Big Sister Experience she is right in her element. With a background in Public Relations and a love for all things social media, Bella loves to explore different social media platforms and the role they take on our lives as well as the younger generations. Working alongside a team of strong women with so many different ideas and perspectives, Bella’s knowledge in all aspects of The Big Sister Experience is always growing. Working within our team, Bella loves that we teach young girls that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes, she thinks that it’s so important as we grow older. In her own time, Bella loves to work-out and spend time with her friends and family. Catch her for a 5am wake up and an 8.30pm bedtime. She loves helping people reach their potential and breaking out of their comfort zone, because believe it or not she used to be very shy! Bella’s aim to bring to The Big Sister Experience is to ensure girls can recognise their feelings and attitudes towards certain aspects of their lives, and to know when and who to speak up to about them, because recognising your feelings as soon as they arise is the first step in figuring out how to deal with them.
Empathetic and creative, Tia is the ultimate team player with strong resilience to deliver on the mission. She is passionate about connecting and empowering people with visual story-telling. Having graduated from a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Linguistics, Tia is pursuing a Master of Communication degree specialising in Public Relations and Digital Media. She brings her positive energy and experience in social media management to our team.
Tia loves the energetic vibes of the Big Sister Experience team the most. She is impressed by how supportive, passionate and collaborative everyone is in the team. One of Tia’s natural habitats is the café. You can find Tia either reading a book with a nice cuppa or chatting with friends about everything in a local coffee shop. Otherwise, she is probably learning a new language (Linguistics nerd!) or sneaking to the kitchen in the middle of the night – classic.
Being a ‘big sister’ figure to three young girls, Tia resonates with our missions in The Big Sister Experience of supporting and educating young girls about self-love. She believes that every baby step is a step towards personal growth and progress – challenges are her friends and the comfort zone is her frenemy. Tia is ready to grow with BSE and this community!
